It’s coming down to crunch time in the fantasy hockey playoffs. At this point, it gets way less tactical and your dreams will most probably come down to your core guys actually producing. With the respect to the waiver wire, there’s always day-to-day plays but, in most leagues – the wire is currently thin to say the least.

With that in mind, there’s always ways to manipulate the NHL schedule.

It’s only fitting that most of your head-to-head leagues will be decided in a week with a season high for games. There’s a ridiculous 56 contests over the next seven days! There would’ve been 54 but I’d say it’s a pretty opportune time for fantasy owners as the Detroit/Carolina and Winnipeg/New Jersey games will be made up on Tuesday night.

Monday – 6 games
Tuesday – 11 games
Wednesday – 4 games
Thursday – 9 games
Friday – 7 games
Saturday – 8 games
Sunday – 11 games

When’s the last time we’ve seen a busier Sunday schedule over Saturday? It’s pretty sweet.

As I’ve been saying all along here, the key is to stack up your rosters with players who play on ‘dark’ nights which are usually Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays. Now, it’s easier said than done considering the above about the waiver wire lacking sufficient talent. Make the best of it.

In total, FIVE NHL teams have a schedule this week that features Monday, Wednesday and Friday. (ARI, CGY, CHI, COL, STL)

Some waiver wire plays to look at include ARI Clayton Keller, CGY Kris Versteeg, CHI Nick Schmaltz, COL Mikko Rantanen and STL Ivan Barbashev.

18 of the 30 teams have FOUR games. (ANA, ARI, BOS, CBJ, CGY, CHI, COL, DAL, DET, FLA, LAK, MIN, NYI, PHI, SJS, STL, TBL, WSH)

Furthermore, the TWO teams to have an eye on this week is the CAROLINA Hurricanes and NASHVILLE Predators. They both have the extremely favourable FIVE GAMES in SEVEN DAYS.

Didn’t I tell you a couple weeks back that the Canes singlehandedly could lead you to fantasy hockey supremacy? Well, they might.
