And The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Class of 2016 is…

Thursday morning saw the announcement of the five artists that make up the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2016. Unlike other, more controversial years, there’s little question that all the names that have been added are unquestionably worthy of the accolade. They are:

Chicago
Established: 1967
Notable Achievements: 100 million albums sold, multiple top ten singles, revolutionized the use horns into rock

Cheap Trick
Established: 1974
Notable Achievements: Broke through with their seminal album Live At Budokon, purveyors of power pop

Deep Purple
Established: 1968
Notable Achievements: Heavy metal/hard rock forefathers, created a riff every beginner guitar player learn with ‘Smoke On the Water’

Steve Miller:
Established: 1966
Notable Achievement: multiple hit singles, released one of the best-selling Greatest Hits albums of all time

N.W.A.:
Established: 1986
Notable Achievements: Hip-hop pioneers, focus of the critically acclaimed 2015 film ‘Straight Outta Compton’

The artists will be inducted on April 8th at Brooklyn’s Barclays Centre in an event to be broadcast later on HBO.
