It was a busy week on NHL Network Radio, as guests including Don Cherry and George McPhee dropped by to chat. Here are some highlights:
Don Cherry on Stellick and Simmer in the Morning
The former player, head-coach and long-time legendary CBC Hockey Night in Canada broadcaster joined Gord Stellick and Rob Simpson on February 5th.
Better known as “Grapes,” as expected Don’s interview touched on some of his hockey past, but of course it wouldn’t be a Don Cherry interview without some of his critical opinions on current NHL topics.
George McPhee on the Power Play
It’s no secret how successful the expansion Vegas Golden Knights have been thus-far this regular season.
General Manager George McPhee joined the Power Play with Scott Laughlin and Patrick O’Sullivan and reiterated how he is keeping his fingers crossed that majority of his players continue their career seasons as the team heads towards a playoff berth. Vegas has already surpassed the record for most points by an expansion team in the NHL with a couple months left before the post-season even begins.
Bruce Cassidy on the Power Play
The Boston Bruins are arguably the hottest team in the entire league. Since the turn of the calendar year the team has won 12 of 14 games with two of those losses coming in over-time.
The Bruins are rolling and Patrice Bergeron not surprisingly is as good as ever.
When he’s not talking to the Department of Player Safety, Brad Marchand is having another All-Star season. Zdeno Chara seems to have found his legs and is moving like he did years ago while Tuuka Rask’s numbers are already Vezina trophy worthy.
