Since it’s inception in 1974 the Canadian International Auto Show has endeavoured to bring the latest renditions the automotive industry has to offer to a Canadian audience.
The show has grown over the years to it’s present offering of 650,000 square feet of exhibits, displays and attractions. The CIAS is the largest consumer show in the country. On display over 1000 vehicles including concepts exotics and classics.
This year being Canada’s 150th birthday the show is featuring a major classic display honouring the cars that grew up in this country over the last century.
Again, this year the AutoShow carries on the tradition of premiering the next series of concepts. Since the “Motorama Shows” of he 50’s, concepts have brought in the crowds. According to Kalvin Reid Media Relations Consultant for the show, “Every major auto manufacturer will have almost every vehicle in their lineup on display at the show from Feb. 17th to 26th” including 16 concepts”. This year’s extravaganza the Aston Martin-Red Bull concept hypercar will make its first appearance in North America. Codenamed AM-RB 001, the hypercar boasts a lightweight carbon fibre frame and radical aerodynamics for unprecedented levels of downforce.
Concepts play an important role in the process. Manufacturers will gauge pubic reaction to their designs and concept features as they head to the drawing board to create new models or refine designs for existing ones.
Dave’s Corner Garage will be there too!
This year, as last, we will be conducting our Town Hall. We’ll be on stage February 20th @1:00pm. Located at the top of the escalator in the north building look for us and be sure to pick up some of the free samples our support team will be handing out. The folks at SiriusXM will host a podcast of the event, plus Dave’s Corner Garage will host the video on our site, davescornergarage.com
Coming to the show?
Plan ahead. Check out the website and plan to spend the day. Couple of reminders. February 20th is family day. The first long weekend of the year. Plus; thanks to the folks at Volkswagen, there is a daycare facility on site and you know what that means.
Take your time, compare the different offerings and most of all enjoy yourself.
