David Spade and Jenny McCarthy caught up on SiriusXM Stars Tuesday and reminisced about McCarthy’s role on Spade’s show Just Shoot Me, which aired for seven seasons on NBC from 1997-2003.

Arguably ahead of its time — and especially relevant now following the Caitlyn Jenner news — McCarthy played a transgender character named Brandi (formerly Bert).

“She played my best friend from high school, a guy, and then I meet her again, and she’s turned into a girl,” Spade explained. “And then I want to have sex with her because she’s my best friend but she won’t let me.”

“I never felt more comfortable,” McCarthy said about her role. “We wind up competing for the same women. I turned into a woman who likes chicks … [and]wound up getting it on with the Flowers in the Attic girl that you used to date.”

Check out her appearance starting at the 2:47 mark:

Spade was also a guest on The Howard Stern Show, where he talked about fellow comedians, stand-up and Joe Dirt 2.
