Saturday, March 19th – New York Islanders at Dallas Stars
8:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 222
The Stars can print playoff tickets now, having been a force in the tough Central Division since day one of the season. How far they can go in the playoffs remains to be seen. The Islanders can at least warm up the printing press, though they haven’t as-of-yet punched their post-season ticket in the Metropolitan Division.
Sunday, March 20th – Anaheim Ducks at Winnipeg Jets
3:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 91
The first day of Spring brings us 7 games across the league, including the resurgent Ducks in Winnipeg. Picked by many to be a Stanley Cup contender this season, Anaheim had their challenges early on, but are back on track. After making the playoffs last season, the Jets are going to miss the cut this time around.
Monday, March 21st – Colorado Avalanche at Edmonton Oilers
9:30 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 91
While the Oilers always seem to be immersed in a rebuilding phase, they are always entertaining to watch when rookie centre Connor McDavid is in the lineup. The Avalanche are in a dogfight with the Minnesota Wild for the final Western wildcard spot, and that battle may go right down to the wire.
Tuesday, March 22nd – Los Angeles Kings at Minnesota Wild
8:30 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 211
The Wild are in that battle with the Avalanche for the final Western wildcard invite, and will have to bring their best game tonight when the visiting Los Angeles Kings come to town. The Kings are involved in their own battle, a three-way tussle with the Ducks and Sharks for first place in the Pacific Division.
Wednesday, March 23rd – St. Louis Blues at San Jose Sharks
10:30 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 91
While the Sharks are looking to grab top spot in the Pacific Division, the visiting Blues are right in the middle of the three-way race for first place in the Central Division. This could be a preview of the Western Conference Final.
Thursday, March 24th – Anaheim Ducks at Toronto Maple Leafs
7:30 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 217
The Ducks are one of the acknowledged powers in the NHL this season, while the Maple Leafs are building for the future, though they’ve already shown they can make life difficult for some of the playoff bound teams who might have thought this would be an easy two points.
Friday, March 25th – New York Islanders at Tampa Bay Lightning
7:30 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 91
The Tampa Bay Lightning are once again playing like the Lightning team that went all the way to the Stanley Cup Final last season. Even though most pundits have picked the Washington Capitals to emerge from the East this time around, the Bolts will be one of the few teams that could upend that coronation.
