Mick Kern from NHL Network Radio here. We’re running down the must-hear NHL games of the week, including the Lightning at the Rangers and the Leafs visiting the Blue Jackets:

Saturday, March 18th – Chicago Blackhawks at Toronto Maple Leafs
7:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 91

Once again, the Blackhawks are one of the powerhouses in the NHL, and will be looking for yet another Stanley Cup once the playoffs roll around in mid-April.  While Chicago will be there, will the Maple Leafs?  They’re in the middle of a real dogfight for one of the final post-season invites in the Eastern Conference.  These two old Original Six rivals meeting up always makes for entertaining hockey.

Sunday, March 19th – Florida Panthers at Pittsburgh Penguins
1:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 91

With the Capitals having cooled off a bit recently, it opened the door for the Penguins (and Blue Jackets) to close ground on first place in the Metropolitan Division.  Pittsburgh has been much better at home than on the road this season.  As for the Panthers, this campaign has been a disappointment, after finishing first in the Atlantic Division last season.

Monday, March 20th – Boston Bruins at Toronto Maple Leafs
7:30 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 91

Both of these teams are in a battle for not only a playoff position in the Eastern Conference, but also home ice advantage in that first round.  First place in the Atlantic Division is not out of reach for the Bruins, so the two points that can be earned tonight are crucial in that drive.

Tuesday, March 21st – New York Rangers at New Jersey Devils
7:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 91

The 2016-17 season has been one to forget for the Devils, who are near the bottom of the Eastern Division standings.  Not the case of the rival Rangers, who have been in a season long tussle for a favourable opening round playoff position in the Metropolitan Division.  The Rangers could finish anywhere from 1st in the division, 2nd, 3rd, or all the way down in the first Eastern wildcard position.

Wednesday, March 22nd – Edmonton Oilers at Anaheim Ducks
10:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 91

Depending on how things finish up in the Pacific Division, the Ducks and Oilers could face each other in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs this April…or in the second round.  The game tonight is an important late season matchup for both squads.

Thursday, March 23rd – Winnipeg Jets at Los Angeles Kings
10:30 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 91

For seemingly all season, both the Jets and Kings are been on the outside looking in at the Western Conference post-season picture.  With less than a month remaining in the regular season, the Kings still have a shot at making the playoffs, but the wins have to come now.  This one tonight should feel like a playoff game.

Friday, March 24th – New York Islanders at Pittsburgh Penguins
7:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 91

While the Penguins are in the running for first place in the Metropolitan Division, the Islanders still have their sights set on the final wildcard spot in the East.  They’re in a battle with the likes of Toronto, and Tampa, for that last wildcard.
