Supercooled Large Droplets (SLD)

SLD Icing alerts you to the presence of relatively large, supercooled water droplets, which are indicative of freezing rain aloft. SLD data is provided in 3,000-foot increments, from 1,000 to 30,000 feet in altitude. The data is classified by the percentage of probability, or on one of five levels of severity, supplying you with information on areas where icing may occur.
