This week, The Verge wants to get your ears on these great new tracks:

Alexandria Maillot – Messed It Up

West coast genre bending singer, Alexandria Maillot has been performing since the age of 7. She released her debut album ‘Time’ in 2016 and is gearing up to release her second album ‘Benevolence’ later this year. The new album focuses on the emotional roller-coaster of heartbreak with moments built in for introspection and stillness. The sound of the album is a mix of southern rock and R&B filtered through a 90’s state of mind. I can hear some influences from Natalie Imbruglia, Macy Gray and Jewel. You may have heard some of Alexandria’s music featured on TV shows on MTV and soap operas like The Young And The Restless. Alexandria says in the song that “I’m prone to make mistakes, but I never thought that I would mess it up this way…” Take a listen to “Messed It Up”

Montreal’s Jesse Mac Cormack’s debut album, Now is out now and he enters his second week on the watch list with “Stay”. Jesse will be stopping by SiriusXM Canada for a Live At The Verge session next month and if you have a question for him let us know.

Walk Off The Earth’s Ryan Marshall is not leaving the Burlington, Ontario award winning band; he just has a side hustle. His solo album Layers arrives next month under the name Marshall. On the track “Mr Parachute”, Marshall teams up with Calgary singer-songwriter Jocelyn Alice; the collaboration is perfect.

The Honest Heart Collective’s fan base has been letting us know that they are loving the band’s song ‘North American Dream’ on The Verge. That same fan base will be putting their full support behind the band for an upcoming hometown show in Thunder Bay, ON. The Honest Heart Collective will have a signature beer created for them by a local craft brewery for the show, PLUS a signature gelato blend will be on hand. Oh, and a cool Hot Sauce brand will make a label that will celebrate the band as well. More bands should take note of all The Honest Heart Collective’s marketing angles.

Julian Taylor Band – Learn To Love

“Learn To Love” is from ‘Avalanche, ’ the new album from Toronto based Julian Taylor Band. Julian has been immersed in the local music scene since the late 90’s from his time in the roots rock band Staggered Crossing. ‘Avalanche’ Julian Taylor Bands’ fifth release, effortlessly combines vintage sounds to create contemporary groovy soulful music. The band doesn’t shy away from bringing together the sounds of jazz, funk, rock, R&B into their soundscapes. No matter the song, the Julian Taylor Band will get you dancing and engaging with those around you.
