SiriusXM Country does Cavendish Beach Music Festival
Sarah Burke here, fresh off the plane from Cavendish Beach Music Festival in Prince Edward Island. I hope you’ve been following along on our socials @SiriusXMCountryon Twitter & Instagram, and Facebook.com/SirusXMCountry too. There were lots of surprises keeping things interesting on the festival’s three stages.
If you haven’t seen it yet, we caught River Town Saints covering some hip hop, James Barker Band did Nelly’s “Hot in Here,” Petric covered Ed Sheeran’s “Castle on the Hill,” Lindsay Ell did John Mayer’s “Waiting on the World to Change,” The Reklaws covered Steve Miller Band, and Dan + Shay did a perfect rendition of “I Like The Sounds of That” by the Rascal Flatts – you really never know what to expect during festival season!
First things first, we caught up with our friends in Canadian Country AND some international superstars. You can hear the Cavendish Beach Music Festival Recap all week on CH. 171:
Wednesday July 12th – 12pm ET
Thursday July 13th – 4pm ET
Friday July 14th – 9am ET
Saturday July 15th – 1pm ET
Sunday July 16th – 5pm ET
I do want to share a few highlights from the festival here… like the moment Terri Clark joined Dallas Smith on stage!
Dallas Smith & Terri Clark
Terri Clark is not only a fabulous performer and a veteran to Canadian country music, she’s also the host of her own radio show. I asked her what type of conversations she likes having on her own show, which eventually lead to a discussion about what country music is missing in 2018.
We Caught up with our East Coast Top of the Country finalist, Jason Benoit, ahead of his performance on the SiriusXM Emerging Artist Stage at Cavendish – he told us what advice has been valuable over the course of the contest.
James Barker Band told us a bit about four guys travelling together…in the small space of a tour bus. The follow-up to the Game On EP is on the way, too!
Brett Eldredge was honestly the nicest guy at the festival! He was just so happy to be involved and perform on the east coast. Turns out, he’s great at multi-tasking. He finds time to write on the road without sparing his outdoor summer adventures between festivals.
Meghan Patrick told me how cool it was to hear her new song “The Bad Guy” on SiriusXM Country while she was in Nashville, the first place she heard it!
Chase Rice invited us on his bus to talk about his new album Lambs & Lions and the new single, “Three Chords & The Truth.” He spoke about some of his musical influences mentioned in the song, and included a story about growing up with Brian Kelley from Florida Georgia that you’re not going to want to miss, hear it below! P.S. he gave Canadian fans a heads up that his next single is “Eyes on You,” a song about not being able to take your eyes off whoever you’re with, and missing everything else around you!
Dan + Shay were definitely one of my favourite performances from the weekend – they are so humble yet have so much energy! Shay may or may not have been tearing up about the size of the crowd they played in PEI on stage. Here’s Dan + Shay on their songs being used for weddings this summer:
For everything else, catch the show all week on CH. 171.
