Ahead of Game 3 in the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs between the Edmonton Oilers and the Anaheim Ducks, an unfortunate technical difficulty for Canadian Country star Brett Kissel turned into a beautiful moment at Rogers Place Sunday night.
After realizing his microphone wasn’t working properly, he conducted the audience through the “Star-Spangled Banner,” and then continued to lead fans through “O Canada” too! Both anthems were sang passionately, together – just about the only thing uniting these two teams during the NHL playoffs.
Kissel was born and raised in Flat Lake Alberta, about two-hours North-East of Edmonton. He joined Scott Laughlin and Patrick O’Sullivan on The Powerplay on SiriusXM NHL Network this week:
Brett Kissel’s not the only country star singing a national anthem. Since Carrie Underwood & Luke Bryan’s anthems, Little Big Town performed the anthem ahead of Game 3 between the Nashville Predators and St. Louis Blues:
By the way, Luke Bryan is a BIG fan of the Predators.
