Canada’s music industry steps up for Fire Aid

Fire Aid

Tickets for the relief concert in support of the people of Fort McMurray and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) went on sale Monday through for what is poised to be one awesome show.

Fire Aid is already drawing international attention, and a lot of that has to do with the All Star line up. Nickelback, Blue Rodeo, Randy Bachman and many more plus more to be announced will take the stage at Edmonton’s Commonwealth Stadium June 29th.

Here’s a quick recap of what happened. On May 3 a wild fire exploded and headed straight for the city of Fort McMurray, forcing a mandatory evacuation. Approximately 80,000 residents from Fort McMurray and neighboring communities were forced to take the highway either north of the city or south. In both cases, it was a horrifying experience, as flames were in some spots on both sides of the highway. The fire moved so fast that many people could only take with them the clothing that was on their back. Many of these evacuees have been away from their homes, work, pets and cherished belongings for nearly a month. On June 1st 2016, with Fort McMurray safe from the wildfires, residence finally got the chance to come home. It will take weeks for people to return and years for the city to rebuild the nearly 2000 destroyed structures.

If you can’t make the event, you can still donate at Broadcast announcements for Fire Aid are expected in the coming days.

Thanks for reading, thanks for sharing, and thanks supporting the City of Fort McMurray and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
