Analyst, Campaign Development

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Loyalty & Retention Analytics

The Analyst, Campaign Development, will work with marketing databases to build and automate complex direct marketing campaigns in support of marketing and strategic analytics business initiatives. This position is part of a fast-paced, Agile-based environment requiring cross-functional work inside and outside the group, as well as interaction with different teams across the company. The ability to simultaneously handle several campaign projects is essential, as is strong communication and project management skills; the role is 80% technical and 20% functional. This position will develop a deep understanding of the functionality of the CRM interface, the content of the data warehouse and the nuances of SiriusXM’s direct marketing business; the right candidate must enjoy and excel at problem-solving, troubleshooting and root cause analysis.


  • Implement campaign data requirements developed by internal business partners
  • Develop functional specifications; produce and quality-test campaign data files
  • Identify and remediate issues along campaign development lifecycle; manage relationships with marketing stakeholders
  • Produce campaign data lists and reports using campaign management platform and/or custom SQL
  • Communicate project status updates to production manager, marketing business partners and workflow management system
  • Review and analyze business requirements; write functional specifications
  • Perform quality control testing of campaign lists and/or analytic reporting files
  • Manage project and time-tracking through Project Portfolio Management tool

Level of Education

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required

Job Related Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ practical experience in coding, testing and implementing of Marketing BI campaign initiatives
  • Strong affinity for and knowledge of big data environments, relational databases, data interrogation techniques, complex joins and complex segmentation (etc.)
  • Familiarity with direct marketing business concepts and terminology
  • Minimum 3 years’ expert-level SQL coding experience
  • Production management knowledge; participation in requirements definition, interpreting business requirements, workflow and functional specification write-ups
  • Knowledge and understanding of running audits, automated data controls and scheduling tools
  • Understanding of database marketing concepts such as householding, audience hierarchies, audience sizing, multi-step, contact history, test and control, hold-outs, cell-coding, promo-coding, propensity models, waterfall reports, quality control and peer review methodologies
  • Experience working with marketing business end-users
  • Experience with Agile work environments and work-flow automation platforms

Skills and Background

  • Experience with Teradata marketing applications (eg. Aprimo Relationship Manager)
  • Deep understanding of and experience with Relational Databases and BI tools
  • Expert SQL coding skills; the ability to develop, modify and improve complex SQL-based Stored Procedures
  • Experience with peer review and validating test cases
  • Experience with data mapping and interface development
  • Experience with quality testing and User Acceptance Testing
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal
