Reporting to the Business Manager

The Analyst, Strategic Finance is responsible for collecting, analyzing, forecasting, and reporting accurate financial information, thus enabling the effective evaluation of business performance and decision-making in the areas of subscriber metrics and P&L. This position will act as a liaison between functional areas of the business (OEM and Aftermarket) and the Finance department. To this end, this position will have additional responsibilities related to analytics and data mining.

Accountabilities

Planning:

  • Take responsibility for financial planning, analysis forecasting and reporting based on company performance, market conditions, competitive activities, and growth opportunities
  • Responsible for forecasting new and used industry volume, penetration rate and equipped vehicle sales
  • Perform price and volume variance on penetration rate by OEM partners
  • Provide financial support in analysis, recommendation and implementation of solutions and improvements
  • Ensure that process is continuously improved in terms of efficiency, transparency, and overall effectiveness in driving better business decisions
  • Assist in preparing Annual Operating Plan, including leading of overall process and timelines
  • Provide departments with guidelines and assumptions to develop budgets
  • Consolidate all information into financial system in accordance with established procedures
  • Analyze results against budget and forecasts and prepare variance analysis forecasts for respective departments
  • Assist in building of detailed planning templates and strategic plans
  • Assist in developing reforecasts and strategic plans at corporate level based on actuals and future projections
  • Assist in overall monthly forecast at beginning of month, allowing for time-sensitive analysis and decision-making

Reporting:

  • Deliver actuals reporting to channels and finance team, including tracking on key metrics in relation to month-end finance activities
  • Manage monthly subscriber acquisition costs reporting for OEM and Aftermarket departments
  • Prepare reports and recommendations, enabling effective evaluation of business performance and decision-making in areas of subscriber metrics
  • Prepare standard and ad hoc reports and presentations for monthly management meetings
  • Assist in periodic and ad-hoc report preparation, period analysis and forecast/reforecast preparation

Modeling:

  • Provide financial information via SQL queries for forecasting, data analysis, business reporting, and other strategic projects
  • Develop, implement, and use tools for managing and analyzing business performance
  • Create and maintain complex multi-year models and monitor metrics to continuously improve upon forecasting of business performance
  • Provide business case and LTV analyses on new marketing initiatives and OEM partner contracts

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

Level of Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, business administration or economics
  • Recognized accounting and finance designation is an asset

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and database tools (ie. SQL) is required
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple requests from various business partners
  • Familiarity with subscriber-based business is an asset
