SiriusXM Remembers Civil Rights Icon John Lewis, Dead At 80

John Lewis

SiriusXM is honouring the legacy of civil rights icon John Lewis, who died Friday, July 17 at the age of 80.

Lewis, a Democrat who served as the US representative for Georgia’s 5th congressional district, worked alongside the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. in the fight for racial justice in the 1960s. At the age of 23, Lewis was a keynote speaker at the 1963 March on Washington. Throughout his more than 30-year political career, Lewis remained a vocal advocate for change and his message will not be forgotten.

SiriusXM Urban View (Ch. 126) aired a one-hour special hosted by Clay Cane about the life and legacy of Lewis. Included in the special is an interview that SiriusXM host Joe Madison conducted with Lewis a few years ago after his graphic novel, March, came out. You can listen to the show On Demand now.
