Meghan Patrick makes Canadian Country Music History

Meghan Patrick

Earlier this year, Lindsay Ell became the first female with a #1 country song in Canada in TEN YEARS with “Criminal.”

It’s crazy to think that the last time a woman held the #1 spot in Canadian Country, it was 2008 when Terri Clark topped the charts with “In My Next Life.”

We were excited then…but we’re even more excited now!

This week, two-time Country Music Association (CCMA) Female Artist of the Year, Meghan Patrick, celebrates her first #1 for the song “Walls Come Down.” That makes TWO female artists that have gone to #1 in 2018! This also marks the first time two women have #1s in the same year since 1999 when Shania Twain’s “Honey I’m Home” and Terri Clark’s “Easy on the Eyes” were at the top.

My hope is that the ladies of Canadian country music continue crushing it until this becomes part of the same ol’ conversation in the years to come. Congrats Meghan and Lindsay on a killer 2018!
