George Harrison was known as the quiet Beatle. And maybe that’s true – at least, from a verbal perspective. As a musician though, Harrison spoke volumes. He was the lead guitarist in the band, and his playing was always tasteful and often electrifying. As a songwriter, he crafted not only some of the band’s greatest songs but he also created an impressive body of work as a solo artist and as a member of the rock supergroup, the Traveling Wilburys, in which he was one among equals with Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne.

To commemorate George Harrison on what would have been his 73rd birthday, here are five quintessential moments from his amazing career.
