Here are some key games for SiriusXM NHL Network Radio fans this week across the league, including Toronto at Montreal, St. Louis at Anaheim, and Chicago at Vancouver.

Saturday, February 8th – Toronto Maple Leafs at Montreal Canadiens
7:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91

When the NHL schedule was released months ago, most people probably didn’t expect the Maple Leafs to find themselves out of a playoff spot heading into this game with their eternal rivals. But that’s where they are, and with time beginning to become a factor, Toronto made a move to address their backup goaltending conundrum. Jack Campbell is no longer a King, and lands smack dab in the middle of the daily craziness that is life as a Leaf. Montreal sits further back from the final Eastern Conference wildcard spot, so this is essentially a playoff game for them, as they need the two points if they wish to play in a real playoff game this spring.

Sunday, February 9th – Chicago Blackhawks at Winnipeg Jets
7:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 219

With two months left in the 2019-20 NHL regular season, these two teams are practically neck-and-neck for one of the final post-season spots in the jammed up Western Conference. Except the Jets were supposed to be one of the leaders in the tough Central Division, and nobody really expected the Blackhawks to be a factor this season. Yet they are, thus this is a crucial game tonight, even in early February.

Monday, February 10th – New York Islanders at Washington Capitals
7:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91

While the Capitals continue to rule the roost in the Metropolitan Division, they want to make sure the pesky Penguins don’t gain ground on them. Earlier this season, it appeared the Islanders would also make a run at the top spot, but recently they’ve found themselves suddenly down in one of the Eastern wildcard slots, with a number of teams nipping at their heels. A long way to say the two points gained by winning the game this evening matter very much to both teams. And this could be a first-round playoff preview.

Tuesday, February 11th – St. Louis Blues at Anaheim Ducks
10:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91

Yes, the defending Stanley Cup champion Blues can play better than they have recently, but they’re a lock to make the playoffs. Will they hold on to first place in the Central Division? Tonight they face a Ducks team that are a virtual lock to miss the playoff cut this season but will make you earn your two points.

Wednesday, February 12th – Chicago Blackhawks at Vancouver Canucks
10:30 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91

Always a good game between these two teams, and this time around, it matters. The Blackhawks have surprised most observers by remaining in the Western Conference playoff hunt this late in the season. Then again, the Canucks have also been a pleasant surprise, as they have designs on first place in the Pacific Division.

Thursday, February 13th – Dallas Stars at Toronto Maple Leafs
7:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91

It’s probably safe to print playoff tickets in Texas, but the question remains who will the Stars be facing in the first round? If the season so far is any indication, Dallas will face Denver, as in the Colorado Avalanche. And home-ice advantage may matter big time in that matchup. The team Dallas faces this evening are immersed in their own playoff struggle. The Maple Leafs are looking to regain a top-three spot in the Atlantic Division.

Friday, February 14th – New York Rangers at Columbus Blue Jackets
7:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91

After losing two key players over the summer, many expected the Blue Jackets to take a step backwards this season, and most likely miss the playoffs. Someone forgot to tell the Jackets that, as they’ve been in the post-season mix from the very beginning. The same cannot be said for the Broadway Blueshirts, who are bubbling just under the cut-off line in the Eastern Conference, and would have to go on a lengthy winning streak in order to leapfrog over a number of teams currently ahead of them in the standings.
