NHL Games Of The Week – Saturday, May 8th to Friday, May 14th

NHL
TORONTO, ON - MAY 6: Wayne Simmonds #24 of the Toronto Maple Leafs skates ahead of Tyler Toffoli #73 of the Montreal Canadiens during an NHL game at Scotiabank Arena on May 6, 2021 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Saturday, May 8th – Montreal Canadiens at Toronto Maple Leafs

7 pm Eastern on SiriusXM 91

A first-round playoff preview? A must-win for a Montreal team looking to nail down 4th place? A must-win for a Toronto team looking to nail down 1st place? Maybe so for all three questions, as it looks like this series is locked in.

Sunday, May 9th – Dallas Stars at Chicago Blackhawks

7 pm Eastern on SiriusXM 91

It was a good run by the Blackhawks, but their 2021 run fell a bit shy of making the playoff cut. Will the same be said about the Dallas Stars, eight months after making it all the way to the Stanley Cup Final?

Monday, May 10th – Colorado Avalanche at Vegas Golden Knights

10 pm Eastern on SiriusXM 91

Two of the battleship teams in the National Hockey League go at it tonight under the bright lights of Las Vegas. Both are prime Stanley Cup contenders, but one of them will be in drydock in about a month’s time…if not both of them.

Tuesday, May 11th – Boston Bruins at Washington Capitals

7 pm Eastern on SiriusXM 91

Another possible playoff preview here, as the 2021 NHL regular schedule winds down. Both of these teams already made the post-season cut in the tough East Conference, so this game may very well be about final positioning, tuning up for the playoffs, and sending a message.

Wednesday, May 12th – Edmonton Oilers at Montreal Canadiens

5 pm Eastern on SiriusXM 91

If the Canadiens are able to catch the Winnipeg Jets for 3rd place in the North Division, this would most likely be the first-round matchup. If Montreal finishes 4th, they face the Toronto Maple Leafs. Either way, this is a warm-up game, for both teams, for the upcoming playoff marathon.

Thursday, May 13th – Minnesota Wild at St. Louis Blues

8 pm Eastern on SiriusXM 91

Both teams have been surprised this season, with the Wild being better than most thought, and the Blues taking their good ole’ time getting into a playoff spot in the West Division.

Friday, May 14th – Toronto Maple Leafs at Winnipeg Jets

8 pm Eastern on SiriusXM 91

For most of the 2021 season, the consensus was these were the top two teams in the North Division, and many expected the Jets to challenge the Maple Leafs for top spot. They did…and the Leafs beat them. Ever since then, Winnipeg has been off their game, but with the playoffs upon us, time to get back to the hockey that made the Jets a tough team to play against earlier this campaign.
