Here are some key games for SiriusXM NHL Network Radio fans this week across the league, including Chicago at Anaheim, New Jersey at Winnipeg, and Minnesota at San Jose.
Saturday, November 2nd – New York Islanders at Buffalo Sabres
7:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 385
Two early coach-of-the-year candidates are behind the benches for the Islanders and Sabres. We all know the magic Barry Trotz has brought to the Island, but Ralph Krueger’s return to the NHL has, so far, been impressive. Is the Sabres’ hot start sustainable? They’ll get to test that tonight when the Islanders are in town.
Sunday, November 3rd – Chicago Blackhawks at Anaheim Ducks
8:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 219
After their slide into mediocrity during the last half of last season, what kind of Ducks team would we see this time around? The answer is, a better team, one that is a tough out at home. Which doesn’t bode well for the Blackhawks in this one, as they’ve had problems on the road so far this season.
Monday, November 4th – Pittsburgh Penguins at Boston Bruins
7:30 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91
One game short of winning the Stanley Cup this past June, the Boston Bruins look like a team that wants to correct that wrong. They’ve been one of the best teams in the league one month into the season, though secondary scoring remains a bit of an issue. The Penguins are again one of the higher scoring teams in the league, and are once again right in the thick of the race for playoff spots in the tough Metropolitan Division.
Tuesday, November 5th – New Jersey Devils at Winnipeg Jets
8:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 167
One month in, the Devils have been a disappointment in the Eastern Conference, languishing near the bottom of the standings. The Jets were pretty much forced to overhaul their defense corps, and have played so-so hockey so far.
Wednesday, November 6th – Detroit Red Wings at New York Rangers
8:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91
These two Original Six rivals both missed the playoffs last season, and most expect the rebuilding Red Wings to be on the outside looking in again once we get to mid-April. Are the Rangers closer to grabbing one of the two Eastern Conference wildcard spots?
Thursday, November 7th – Minnesota Wild at San Jose Sharks
10:30 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Two underachieving teams meet up tonight in San Jose. By the time they drop the puck at centre ice, the cast and crew could be different for both squads. When teams are not living up to expectations, changes are usually forthcoming. Still, it’s relatively early in the season, so both teams can still right their respective ships.
Friday, November 8th – Tampa Bay Lightning at Buffalo Sabres
2:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91
These two Atlantic Division rivals are across the Atlantic this weekend for a couple of games at the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden. While the Sabres have been one of the pleasant surprises in the first month of the 2019-20 campaign, when will the Lightning begin to look like the Lightning we saw last regular season?
