NHL Games of the Week: Saturday, October 19th, to Friday, October 25th, 2019

Here are some key games for SiriusXM NHL Network Radio fans this week across the league, including a mini-series between the Bruins and the Leafs.

Saturday, October 19th – Boston Bruins at Toronto Maple Leafs
7:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91

Is it mid-April already?  Because that’s when these two teams always meet up in the first round of the playoffs, and it’s always the Bruins that emerge with the series win.  The B’s and Leafs meet up again, in Boston, on Tuesday, meaning we get an early taste of what might be this spring.

Sunday, October 20th – Edmonton Oilers at Winnipeg Jets
7:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91

These two franchises staged some memorable games back in the 1980’s, with Edmonton usually taking the W.  All these years later, the resurgent Oilers look to build on a successful start to the season, in hopes of returning to the magical land of the post-season.  The Jets have been up and down out of the gate, and can certainly score, but are looking to tighten up the defensive part of their game.  That could be tough with Connor McDavid in the house.

Monday, October 21st – Colorado Avalanche at St. Louis Blues
8:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 219

The defending Stanley Cup champion Blues welcome in what many consider the main contender to their throne, the Colorado Avalanche.  The Avs were the final NHL team this season to have a “perfect” record (going 5-0-0 until an overtime loss to the Penguins).  Both of these teams figure to be in the mix for top spot in the Central Division when the dust clears in mid April.

Tuesday, October 22nd – Toronto Maple Leafs at Boston Bruins
7:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91

A mini-playoff series in October?  Kind of, as the Bruins and Maple Leafs appear fated to meet up every spring.  After clashing in Toronto this past Saturday, the two Atlantic Division rivals go at it again tonight in Boston.

Wednesday, October 23rd – Pittsburgh Penguins at Tampa Bay Lightning
8:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91

So who said the Penguins were going to miss the playoffs this season?  Because out of the gate, Pittsburgh have played good hockey, even without a number of their top players.  Sidney Crosby is there, and continues to put up Hall of Fame numbers.  The Pens are in central Florida tonight to tangle with the Lightning, a team that boasts its own dazzling array of offensive stars.

Thursday, October 24th – Washington Capitals at Edmonton Oilers
9:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 167

Anytime Alexander Ovechkin meets up with Connor McDavid is well worth your time.  Both of their teams are off to good starts this season, and both snipers are piling up goals (and points) yet again.

Friday, October 25th – Colorado Avalanche at Vegas Golden Knights
6:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91

A Friday afternoon matinee in Las Vegas, as the high flying Avalanche are in town to battle with the high roller Golden Knights.  Two of the battleship teams in the Western Conference, this matchup would make for an enticing Conference Final next spring.
