Mick Kern from NHL Network Radio here. We’re running down the must-hear NHL games of the week, including the Leads at the Bruins and the Canucks visiting the Blue Jackets:

Saturday, February 4th – Toronto Maple Leafs at Boston Bruins
7:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 219

These two Atlantic Division adversaries are battling for a playoff position in that division, so the two points up for grabs this evening will go a long way to determining who gets to keep playing come the end of the regular season.  Not many expected the Maple Leafs to be in that mix, but they are, thanks to the young guns, and solid goaltending.  The Bruins also have solid netminding, but have been inconsistent on home ice.

Sunday, February 5th – Los Angeles Kings at Washington Capitals
12:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 219

The Capitals are one of the top teams in the NHL, though they’ll be judged by what happens in the playoffs.  Washington are in that Metropolitan dogfight for top spot, while the Kings are fighting for their playoffs lives in the Western Conference.

Monday, February 6th – St. Louis Blues at Philadelphia Flyers
7:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 91

The Blues have had the goaltending blues recently, but they are still in the mix for a Western Conference playoff invite.  That didn’t stop the team from saying goodbye to head coach Ken Hitchcock last week.  Mike Yeo is now running the show.  As for the Flyers, they are also in a similar position, trying to secure an Eastern Conference wildcard spot.

Tuesday, February 7th – Anaheim Ducks at New York Rangers
7:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 220

Yes, the Capitals, Blue Jackets, and Penguins are having great seasons in the tough Metropolitan Division, but so are the Rangers, who are right up there with those three teams.  Over in Pacific Division, the Anaheim Ducks are once again in the race for top spot in that group.  This time around, they are battling with the Oilers and Sharks for the division crown.

Wednesday, February 8th – Chicago Blackhawks at Minnesota Wild
8:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 91

The only game in town tonight pits two Central Division opponents against each other.  These are the top two teams in the Central Division, and this could be a preview of a great Western Conference Final.  Both teams are stellar in their home barn.

Thursday, February 9th – Vancouver Canucks at Columbus Blue Jackets
7:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 223

Heading into this season, most picked the Blue Jackets to finish near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.  Wrong.  They are one of the powers of the entire league.  Most picked the Canucks to finish dead last in the NHL.  Wrong again.  As of the beginning of February, Vancouver are in the middle of the playoff race for one of the Western wildcard spots.

Friday, February 10th – Chicago Blackhawks at Winnipeg Jets
8:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 91

If only the Jets could play the Blackhawks every week, they’d be in first place in the tough Central Division.  For whatever reason, Winnipeg has dominated Chicago this season, and are looking for another two points this evening.  They’ll need them, as the Jets are life-and-death to get back to the post-season.  Not the same predicament for the ‘Hawks, who are in the running for first place in their division.
