From the Red Wings and Islanders, to the Sharks up against the Rangers, here’s our list of the NHL Games of the Week on SiriusXM NHL Network Radio.

Monday, October 17th – San Jose Sharks at New York Rangers
7:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 91 (home) Sirius XM Internet 943

Almost everyone has tabbed the Cup Finalist Sharks to be in that mix again this upcoming season, but what about the Broadway Blueshirts?  Some observers believe the window of opportunity has slammed shut on their fingers, while others point to an infusion of youth into the Rangers, thus keeping that window open.

Tuesday, October 18th – Pittsburgh Penguins at Montreal Canadiens
7:30 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 221 (home) Sirius XM Internet 942 (away)

While the defending Stanley Cup champions are expected to be a power in the Eastern Conference once again, many are curious as to what will happen with the Habs.  All-World goaltender Carey Price was rock solid for victorious Team Canada at the World Cup of Hockey, and one would expect him to carry on that play into the regular season, though the flu bug has sidelined him early in the campaign.

Wednesday, October 19th – Detroit Red Wings at New York Rangers
8:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 219 (home) Sirius XM Internet 930 (away)

Having qualified for the NHL post-season for the past quarter of a century, many feel the Red Wings will take a step back this time around, and finally miss the playoff cut.  But they also said that last season, and the season before that.  Detroit continues to be competitive, though it will be more difficult this time around as the Eastern Conference is expected to be a tougher conference to play in.  The Wings dropped their first two games of the season.

Thursday, October 20th – San Jose Sharks at Pittsburgh Penguins
7:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 91

A rematch of the 2016 Stanley Cup Final (won by the Penguins), these two teams are expected to once again be amongst the serious contenders for the 2017 Stanley Cup.  There have been recent concerns about the health of Pens’ captain Sidney Crosby, but he didn’t seem all that worried about things.  That’s good news for Pittsburgh fans, who have had to endure long periods of time without #87 in the lineup.

Friday, October 21st – Chicago Blackhawks at Columbus Blue Jackets
7:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 91

Who are the Blackhawks this time around?  The same team that won three Stanley Cup’s in the past few years?  They had one win to show in their first three games. And who are the Blue Jackets?  The same team that everyone expected to move up the Eastern Conference standings, or the squad that stumbled early last season and never recovered?  Columbus dropped their first two games.
