Saturday, April 14th – Toronto Maple Leafs at Boston Bruins
8:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 91
Game Two of this Atlantic Division series goes tonight in Boston, where the Bruins sported an impressive 28-8-5 home record this past season. The Maple Leafs went 20-16-5 on the road. During the regular season, Toronto won 3 of 4 against Boston. Most observers have this series going the distance.
Sunday, April 15th – Winnipeg Jets at Minnesota Wild
7:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 91
This series shifts south to the State of Hockey for Game Three. During the regular season, the Jets prevailed with 3 wins in 4 games against the Wild. It’s been seven years now since the Jets arrived from Atlanta. They are yet to win a playoff series.
Monday, April 16th – Anaheim Ducks at San Jose Sharks
10:30 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 219
Another pick ‘em series, as these two California rivals were separated by one point during the regular season. Two years removed from going to the Stanley Cup Final, the Sharks went 3-0-1 against the Ducks this past season. The fact Anaheim finished second in the Pacific Division is quite the accomplishment, considering all the injuries this team has had to deal with. Many prognosticators think the Ducks are the dark horse of this spring’s playoffs.
Tuesday, April 17th – Washington Capitals at Columbus Blue Jackets
6:45 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 91
Two teams that have not enjoyed a lot of success in the post-season meet up in Columbus. The Blue Jackets are yet to win a playoff series, while the trials and tribulations of the Capitals are well known. Washington went 3-and-1 against the Jackets in the regular season. Goaltending is a potential issue here, as it is in all series. Who starts in the Capitals’ net, and can Columbus netminder Sergei Bobrovsky finally excel in the post-season spotlight?
Wednesday, April 18th – Nashville Predators at Colorado Avalanche
10:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 216
By now we’ll know if the Avalanche can avoid being swept aside by the powerhouse Predators, who are looking to capture the Stanley Cup this time around, after coming up a bit short against the Penguins in the Stanley Cup Final. In this day and age of parity, there really aren’t upsets anymore in the playoffs, though an Avalanche win would constitute such an event.
Thursday, April 19th – Los Angeles Kings at Vegas Golden Knights
10:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 220
The Golden Knights are at home in their first ever Stanley Cup playoffs, in their inaugural season in the NHL. If the Kings go on to win this series, does that in any way take away from the Knights’ success? Then again, who said Vegas can’t win this series? Most expect this one to go seven games.
Friday, April 20th – Philadelphia Flyers at Pittsburgh Penguins
7:00 PM Eastern – Sirius XM 91
(If necessary) Game Five of this series goes this evening, back in Pittsburgh. During the regular season, the Penguins were an impressive 30-9-2 on home ice, while the Flyers were a solid 20-13-8 away from their own barn.
