Some key games for SiriusXM NHL Network Radio fans this week across the league, including Buffalo at Columbus, Philadelphia at Boston, and the Lightning at the Islanders.

Saturday, January 26th – 2019 Honda NHL All-Star Game in San Jose
8:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91

The 2019 Honda NHL All-Star Game takes place on a Saturday this time around, as the best of the best from the league battle it out in 3-on-3 games.  The four Conferences will participate in a single game elimination tournament.

Sunday, January 27th – NO GAMES SCHEDULED

Monday, January 28th – Winnipeg Jets at Philadelphia Flyers
7:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 219

While the Jets are once again one of the powers in the Central Division, the Flyers are still trying to get their game together.  A change in the front office, and behind the bench, did little for Philly, who will be life-and-death to make the playoffs this season in the Eastern Conference.  It’s all about what the future holds when it comes to the Flyers.  As for Winnipeg, they’re in a battle with Nashville for top spot in the Central.

Tuesday, January 29th – Buffalo Sabres at Columbus Blue Jackets
7:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91

A recent slide has the Sabres looking in from the outside at the Eastern Conference playoff picture.  They’re not that far off the pace, but tonight tangle with a Blue Jackets’ squad that has designs on top spot in the Metropolitan Division, but also have to be wary of not falling out of the post-season raced themselves.  That’s how tightly packed the Conferences are as January wraps up.

Wednesday, January 30th – Tampa Bay Lightning at Pittsburgh Penguins
8:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91

Easily the top team in the NHL at the All-Star Break, the Tampa Bay Lightning intend to enjoy a deep playoff run this spring.  They might have to face a team such as the Penguins at some point all the way.  In the contentious Metropolitan Division, a very good team will end up as a wildcard entry.  That could be the Penguins, or they could finish first.  Hold on!

Thursday, January 31st – Philadelphia Flyers at Boston Bruins
7:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91

While most observers have conceded the Atlantic Division crown to the Tampa Bay Lightning, nobody has any idea how the rest of the division will end up.  The Bruins finish in the second spot (and get home ice advantage in the first round), or could end up out of the playoffs.  Most expect the B’s to be in the post-season once all is said and done.

Friday, February 1st – Tampa Bay Lightning at New York Islanders
7:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 221

Are the New York Islanders the pleasant surprise story of the 2018-19 NHL regular season?  Still a lot of chapters to be written in that book, but barring a major collapse, the team that plays in two home arenas will be in the Stanley Cup Playoffs this April.  And the way things are going, they could win a round, or two, along the way.  Tonight’s game against the visiting Lightning will be a good test for the Islanders.
