Here are some key games for SiriusXM NHL Network Radio fans this week across the league, including Tampa Bay at Toronto, Boston at Winnipeg, and Vega at Dallas.
Saturday, March 9th – St. Louis Blues at San Jose Sharks
4:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91
That 11-game winning streak helped propel the Blues into a Western playoff spot, and while it appears they’ll capture third place in the tough Central Division, St. Louis still has a shot at catching either the Predators or Jets. The Sharks are also in a race for first, keeping stride with the Calgary Flames in the Pacific Division.
Sunday, March 10th – Vegas Golden Knights at Calgary Flames
9:30 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 218
This could easily be a preview of a first round matchup this mid-April. The Flames seemingly score at will, while both teams sport similar defensive stats. Both squads are lights out at home, and their road record is nothing to sneeze at. Pick ‘em!
Monday, March 11th – Tampa Bay Lightning at Toronto Maple Leafs
7:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91
A must-see game this evening, as the league leading Lightning arrive in Toronto to tangle with a Maple Leafs’ team that still has designs on second place in the Atlantic Division. It’s pretty well determined that the Leafs will face the Boston Bruins in the opening round of the playoffs. Home ice advantage is what is still up for grabs. As for Tampa, first place is locked up, and they’re just looking to stay healthy for the next five weeks.
Tuesday, March 12th – Washington Capitals at Pittsburgh Penguins
7:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Always an enticing game when these two rivals meet up. This time around, the Caps and Pens are locked in a battle for favourable positioning in the Metropolitan Division. Don’t be surprised if this is a first round matchup this spring.
Wednesday, March 13th – New York Rangers at Vancouver Canucks
10:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 91
They faced each other in one of the greatest Stanley Cup Final series of all-time, but 1994 is a long time ago. These days, both teams have some work in front of them in order to return to such lofty heights. Vancouver has flirted with a Western wildcard spot, but that now appears out of reach for this season. Their future does look bright, and the Rangers can say the same thing. New York will also miss the playoff cut this time around, but that’s not a surprise, as the Broadway Blueshirts build for the future.
Thursday, March 14th – Boston Bruins at Winnipeg Jets
8:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 218
Now this would make for a great Stanley Cup Final this June, but there’s a long way to go before that can happen. So enjoy the game this evening in Winnipeg. The Bruins are one of the hottest teams in the entire league, and can play any style you throw at them. The Jets haven’t played their best hockey in the past month, but this is a talented lineup. Boston is looking to lock down second spot in the Atlantic, while Winnipeg are in a battle with the Predators for first place in the Central Division.
Friday, March 15th – Vegas Golden Knights at Dallas Stars
8:00 PM Eastern – SiriusXM 219
While it appears the Golden Knights are cemented into third place in the Atlantic Division, it’s a different story for the Dallas Stars. They are in a life-and-death struggle to secure a Western wildcard invite. Stars’ netminder Ben Bishop is a big reason why Dallas have been hanging in there.
