Jade Bird Prepares for Self-Titled Debut with New Single ‘I Get No Joy’
Jade Bird just announced her self-titled debut record is coming out this spring AND she’ll tour with Hozier coming up in March.
At just 21, believe me when I say this is JUST the beginning for Jade Bird. The new single is called ‘I Get No Joy’ and she says it’s about that…“stream of thought that runs through your head at all times as an overthinker.”
Psychotic, hyponotic, erotic, which box is your thing?
Martin Scorsese’s New Bob Dylan Documentary
You’ll notice a little vintage Dylan in this week’s playlist going back to 1975’s Blood on the Tracks. Martin Scorsese just announced he’s directing an upcoming Netflix documentary on Bob Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue Tour with a release date later this year. If you’re thinking…wait, hasn’t he already done a Dylan documentary? In 2005 he mostly covered Dylan’s rise to fame, and move to New York etc. This time around, the focus is that tour with Joni Mitchell, Mick Ronson, Bette Midler, Emmylou Harris, Allen Ginsberg and others.
Mandolin Orange “Tides of a Teardrop”
I’m in love with this track ‘The Wolves’ from North Carolina duo Mandolin Orange. That’s singer-songwriter Andrew Marlin and Emily Frantz (who can play just about every damn instrument). Their new album ‘Tides of a Teardrop’ comes out next Friday February 1st and they’re touring all over through April to get the sounds to the people!
Mike Edel Announces New Album ‘Threshholds’
Mike Edel just announced his new album Thresholds will come out March 1st, 2019! You’ve already heard some music from the album including the song ‘31’ which Mike will tell me more about this weekend. Tune in Sunday to hear about working with producer Chris Walla (a founding member of Death Cab for Cutie).
(P.S. Check out his new song ‘Houdini’ on that same YouTube channel too! It ain’t quite North Americana but it’s amazing!)
Hear Sunday Service at 9 am / 9 pm ET on SiriusXM’s North Americana.
