Seth Meyers joined Hoda Kotb for a special Town Hall and delighted us with stories about his journey to SNL and Late Night. Check out some highlights below, then hear the entire interview on EW Radio (Ch. 105) on Friday 5/22 at 1 pm ET and Saturday & Sunday at 7 am, 2 pm and 7pm ET plus on TODAY Show Radio (Ch. 108) on Monday 5/25 at 2 and 5 pm ET.
Meyers talked about competing for jobs with his hilarious friends (think Amy Poehler, Fred Armisen, Andy Samberg and Bill Hader) and how it helped him realize his own strengths. Sounds very mature, right? “I was also a bitter d*ckhead for years,” Meyers joked.
He told us about his SNL audition (where he impersonated Russell Crow, David Arquette and Hugh Grant) and advice he got from Rachel Dratch.
Meyers shared the story about learning he would be the next Late Night host in a cryptic phone call from Lorne Michaels; “‘Did Lorne just offer me this job?!’ It took days to figure out.”
