SiriusXM celebrates the sounds and artists of Black Music Month with special programming across multiple channels. From one-on-one interviews to full channel take-overs, here’s a list of specials airing on each channel.

June is Black Music Month and to celebrate, Heart & Soul gives you 2 ways to enjoy LIVE music! First, Heart & Soul sends one lucky listener and their guest to enjoy 3 nights of Live music at the largest Black music festival in America; The Essence Music Festival in New Orleans June 30th – July 2nd. Secondly, Heart & Soul presents “Off the Record,” every weekend during the month. Each weekend in June hear LIVE performances from some of your favorite artists that visited the SiriusXM studio’s. Full sessions from Charlie Wilson, Leela James, Anthony Hamilton and Marsha Ambrosius will be featured along with individual songs from many of our guests throughout the years.

June is Black Music Month and we’re kicking the celebration off right here at the Heat! Join us for the first annual Hot Seat Festival. We will be showcasing the hottest in R&B and Hip Hop with live performances from our very own Sirius XM studios. Headlining this week’s performances will be R&B newcomer R. LUM. R., Grammy-nominated singer BJ The Chicago Kid, Chicago emcee Dreezy, legendary R&B group Jagged Edge, and the Classic Man himself – Jidenna. Bringing the stage to your speakers! Black Music Month – S.O.S. Band

Black Music month opens on 6/3 with the band from Atlanta produced by Grammy winners Jam & Lewis originally called The Sounds Of Success.  The SOS Band in concert, recorded on the 2017 Soul Train cruise.   Notable songs include Take Your Time (Do It Right), Just Be Good To Me.

Black Music Month – Freddie Jackson

On Monday night 6/5 we welcome Grammy nominated Freddie Jackson to “In The Groove” for an in depth interview and performance of some of his top charting material.   Recorded in our New York studios.

Black Music Month – Chaka Khan

June 10 at 6pm ET

The Black Music Month celebration continues on 6/10 with Grammy winner Chaka Khan in concert, recorded on the 2017 Soul Train cruise.   Notable songs, I Feel for You, and I’m Every Woman.

Black Music Month – Patti LaBelle

Our Black Music Month Mondays continues with Grammy winner Patti Labelle in an interview and performance built around her new album Belle Homage, a collection of Jazz standards.  Recorded in our New York studios.

Black Music Month – Nile Rodgers

June 17 at 6pm ET

Week three 6/17 Grammy winner and Rock & Roll HOF inductee Nile Rodgers brings his talent and new band to our Black Music Month celebration with his concert recorded from the 2017 Soul Train cruise.   Notable songs, Good Times, Le Freak.

Black Music Month Soul Train Concert

June 23 at 6pm ET

The Ambassadors of Funk, Pop, Dance and R&B,  Grammy Award winners Kool & The Gang  were on the concert stage on the 2017 Soul Train Cruise and on Saturday 6/24 we play back their 60 minute performance at 6P east.   Notable songs, Hollywood Swinging, Ladies Night, and Celebration.

Black Music Month – The Commodores

June 30 at 6pm ET

Rounding out June, Black Music month 6/30 another group that helped to redefine the Motown sound in the mid 70’s Tuskegee’s Grammy winning Commodores in concert  with a show from the  Soul Train 2017 cruise.  Notable songs Brick House, Easy.

Soul Town Countdown

It’s important  to acknowledge the big anniversaries in life and music.   Soul Town kicks off Black Music Month on Saturday 6/3 at noon east, Jeff Foxx counts down 15 songs that turn 50 years old from the year 1967.

Song Writers Hall Of Fame members Gamble & Huff, the pioneers of Philly Soul, display The Intruders on the concert stage from the 2017 Soul Train Cruise.

Backspin Honors 2Pac

June 12 – 25

All a part of Black Music Month on SiriusXM, Backspin celebrates 2Pac’s music and life by spotlighting Pac classics every hour throughout June. In addition, listeners will also hear reflections on Tupac from artists who knew him (Treach, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube + more). Plus hear in-depth interviews with the lead actors and producers from the upcoming biopic “All Eyez On Me” and with the hip hop group The Outlawz,, whom Tupac founded in 1995.
