Andrew Hyatt Drops New Tunes for the Long Weekend
As voting closes for our 2nd annual nation-wide Top of the Country contest, I can’t help but beam with pride watching our 2018 winner, Andrew Hyatt, drop songs like they hawt! Following the digital release of his stripped down EP Abel, he’s back with two hot new country songs in time for the long weekend titled ‘Didn’t Know Me,’ and ‘Hang Around Kind.’ Whoever Canada votes as our next Top of the Country winner will also win $25,000, a slot performing on some big stages & songwriting camp. Hyatt’s participation in SOCAN’s songwriting camp over the last year have proven successful.
Donovan Woods Teams Up with Tenille Townes on ‘I Ain’t Ever Loved No One’
You may not hear his name often, but Donovan Woods is the writer behind so many of the country hits you hear on SiriusXM ch. 171, along with international hits recorded by the likes of Tim McGraw and Lady Antebellum. He just released the acoustic companion album to his 2018 release Both Ways called The Other Way, featuring this sweet duet with rising country star Tenille Townes. Speaking about the song, Woods says, “The song captures that moment of bringing someone home to meet the family, using it as a backdrop to the anxieties of falling in love. True to the album title, a listener could either imagine a happily-ever-after ending or hear it as an ode to the one that got away.”
Jim Cuddy Announces New Album “Countrywide Soul”
Jim Cuddy has announced his new album Countrywide Soul will come out next weekend on May 31st. On this album, it was very important for Cuddy to let every member of his band shine, while capturing the energy we know and love from their live shows. Countrywide Soul was recorded live on the top floor of Jim’s barn and features re-worked recordings of songs he released both with both Blue Rodeo and his solo career. It doesn’t get more country than a barn floor…
The first single is ‘Back Here Again,’ one of two new songs on this album. Here’s the video (directed by Stephen Hughes) which brings us into the homes of his band members.
