The Doobie Brothers
Nine Inch Nails
The Notorious B.I.G.
Jon Landau and Irving Azoff will be receiving the Ahmet Ertegun Award, which honours songwriters, producers, disc jockeys, record executives, journalists, and other industry professionals who have had a major influence on rock and roll.
This marks a particularly historic moment for The Doobie Brothers, Whitney Houston, Notorious B.I.G., and T. Rex, who appeared on the ballot for the first time. An international voting body of over 1,000 artists — including current living inductees, historians, and other members of the industry — were chosen to determine this year’s inductees on the bases of musical influence, career length, depth of their body of work, and innovation and superiority in style and technique.
