I have been in the sports broadcasting industry for nearly 20 years and we have never seen or experienced what we are seeing around the world right now. These are unprecedented times for all of us as we try and navigate through an unknown time in history.
For the most part, when things like this happen, people look to sports as an avenue for escape, a place to get away from it all just for a bit and not think about everyday life events. While sports aren’t able to do that at the moment, we at SiriusXM Canada Talks and Sports Talk Today are.
Starting this Monday, we will be focusing on some of the greatest sporting moments in history. To begin with, this coming Monday, March 30th we will go back and revisit the 1972 Summit Series between Canada and the Soviet Union. I will be joined by Paul Henderson and Don Cherry as they share their memories of one of the most iconic sporting events in Canadian history.
On Tuesday, March 31st, author Danny Gallagher and SiriusXM’s very own Mick Kern will join me for a historical look back on the Montreal Expos, from “Blue Monday,” to the 1994 team, and the final out of their last season in Montreal.
Then on Wednesday, to kick off the month of April, we look back on the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta where Donovan Bailey took gold in the men’s 100 m final and then did the same thing as part of the 4×100 relay team. Donovan, along with relay members Glenroy Gilbert and Robert Esmie will be on the show, reflecting on those moments from ’96.
We will then dive into Tiger Wood’s return to glory with his win at the 2019 Masters. TSN’s Mark Zecchino and SiriusXM’s Rob Conway will drop by Thursday, April 2nd as we talk about Tiger roaring back to another green jacket.
Finally, on Friday, April 3rd, the Toronto Blue Jays will come into focus as will former Maple Leaf Dave Keon. I will be joined by author Dave Bidini as we look into one of the more intriguing athletes to ever wear the blue and white.
So many great moments to choose from and we are just getting started!! Join us on Sports Talk Today on SiriusXM Canada Talks Channel 167!
