Wilco Announces First New Album Since 2016

Finally! I mean, yeah, Jeff Tweedy’s been busy with his solo release & memoir, but I’m excited about this week’s announcement. Wilco’s 11th LP is due out October 4th, titled Ode to Joy and it’s produced by Tweedy himself. Here’s what he says about the lead single:

There MUST be more love than hate. Right?! I’m not always positive we can be so sure. In any case, I’m starting to feel like being confident in that equation isn’t always the best motivation for me to be my best self – it can kind of let me off the hook a little bit when I think I should be striving to contribute more love outside of my comfortable sphere of family and friends.

So… I guess the song is sort of a warning to myself that YES, Love IS EVERYWHERE, but also BEWARE! I can’t let that feeling absolve me of my duty to create more.

Meet Kelsey Waldon, Signed to John Prine’s Oh Boy Records

Another record due out October 4th is Kelsey Waldon’s White Noise/White Lines. The Kentucky native is the first artist signed to John Prine’s Oh Boy Records in 15 years.  They celebrated the signing at The Grand Ol’ Opry back in May and she was floored after joining him for ‘Unwed Fathers’ and ‘Paradise’:

It’s hard for me to put into words what it truly means to me to be signed to Oh Boy Records…To have someone like John, who I have looked up to my whole life, who I have set my songwriting standards after and my general music making standards after, to have someone like him endorse my music and care enough about it to make sure it reaches a wider audience…that means everything.

Jack White of The Raconteurs on Their First Album since 2008

The Raconteurs released their new album Help Us Stranger last month, their first since 2008.  On this record, Jack White sings on the more mellow tracks while bandmate Brendan Benson belts out the bangers.  In a new interview with Rolling Stone, he talks about his friendship with Bob Dylan, his non-beef with The Black Keys, and how the band picked it back up after all of these years.

We just added this track into rotation on North Americana!
