Tegan & Sara drop new music, hear live Tokyo Police Club & Broken Social Scene

Tegan and Sara

Drew Khan here from The Verge with your weekly emerging music fix with news on Tegan and Sara, Broken Social Scene + more.

New Music out this week

“I’ll Be Back Someday” from Tegan and Sara’s upcoming ninth album Hey, I’m Just Like You. The song was originally written when the sisters were teenagers fighting over the one electric guitar that they had at the time. Along with the release of the new album in September, there will be a new memoir called High School which will be included in some of the ticket purchases on their North American tour. Check out the lyric video created by Sara and hear their song this week on your Top 10 countdown, The Grocery List.

Broken Social Scene Live at The Verge

In the award-winning band’s 20 plus year career, we haven’t caught up with Broken Social Scene for a studio session – until now! It took some organizing as the musical collective have a band roster that can be nine members but also could be 24 members at times, including rock royalty like Emily Haines, Jimmy Shaw, Amy Millan, Brendan Canning, Feist, Kevin Drew, and more. You can imagine getting them all into the studio can be a little tricky. We did it though, and are honoured to have indie rock icons Broken Social Scene on Live at The Verge this week. We caught up with the band before their Toronto shows back in April. Here’s Kevin Drew discussing the band’s new EP’s and the inspiration behind the song “Let’s Try the After.”

Live At The Verge with Broken Social Scene:

Friday, July 26th at 3 PM ET
Saturday, July 27th at 7 am and 7 pm ET
Sunday, July 28th at 11 am and 11 pm ET
