NEW MUSIC OUT THIS WEEK

ACOUSTIC VERSION OF ‘SALVATION’ FROM THE STRUMBELLAS

Most of the Strumbellas songs start with lead singer Simon on an acoustic guitar. The band takes their first single from their new album Rattlesnake back to the start with an acoustic version of “Salvation.” The track was recorded at Bush Hall in London, UK, which was built in 1904 and its ornate setting transforms the song.

SECRET BROADCAST DELIVER SOMETHING NEW

Toronto alternative rock band Secret Broadcast return with the new album, Penny Arcade and its first single, ‘Only Drug.’ If you listen closely you’ll hear the slide guitar stylings of one Christopher Thorn from Blind Melon. The band says their new album combines the ’70s swagger of The Rolling Stones with the blues rock landscape of The Black Keys.

MATT MAYS – HOWL AT THE NIGHT TOUR

First things first – this summer don’t miss Matt performing at the Outlaw Music Festival with none other than Willie Nelson. Matt picked up the JUNO Award for Rock Album of the Year in 2014 for Coyote, and has been alternating between rock and acoustic folk rock for a little bit now. He recently released an acoustic version of his 2017 album Once Upon A Hell Of A Time…called Twice Upon A Hell Of A Time…The upcoming fall tour will showcase the two worlds of Matt’s catalogue of music and he describes it as “an evening that will start off woody and mellow and finish electric and stormy.”

To get you ready for these shows, check out Matt’s Live At Massey Hall show recorded last year in Toronto on The Verge – Friday June 21, 2019 at 8 PM ET.

Opening for Matt Mays on the fall tour will be Skye Wallace, who just released a new album. You can get to know more about her on our LiVE@TheVerge feature.  Available On Demand soon.
