New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski stopped by the SiriusXM Studios Friday for an exclusive Mad Dog Sports Radio Town Hall event, hosted by Maria Menounos. During the interview, the Super Bowl champ went in-depth about many aspects of his career on the football field, including the infamous deflategate scandal.
“It’s just so ridiculous how long it’s been dragging out,” Gronkowski said. “It’s just annoying and I can’t wait for it to be over. Roger [Goodell] just needs to wipe it out and put it in the past.”
He also spoke about the competitive nature of his quarterback, Tom Brady, and whether he will be fueled by deflategate in the new season.
“He’s so competitive you don’t even need to give him a motive to bring it out on the field,” said Gronkowski. “Whenever he’s playing football, he’s always bringing it, so I feel like he’ll be out there with the same edge he always has.”
Gronk also shared what motivates him on the football field.
“I’ve had it taken away from me many times, the game of football with injuries,” Gronkowski said. “What motivates me is just the love of the game, knowing it can be taken away at any time.”
