This week, The Verge wants to get your ears on these great new tracks:
Yung Heazy – Kool Musik
Jordan Heaney aka Yung Heazy sings about making “cool music with his friends” on this brand new track. We hear Heazy’s signature charming bedroom style production on this one, but don’t let that charm be confused with being an amateur. Every note is carefully placed on this breezy track.
Destroyer – Cue Synthesizer
This certainly isn’t the first time Destroyer has been featured on One’s Two Watch. ‘Cue Synthesizer’ is the third track from his forthcoming album Have We Met and it does not disappoint. This song is spacey and, as promised by its title, full of synth. Have We Met drops January 31.
Taylor Jenzen – What I Do
Winnipeg singer-songwriter Taylor Jenzen has released her new song entitled ‘What I Do.’ The track feels like you’ve cracked open Jenzen’s diary and a melody came pouring out. When asked about the song she said that it was about being in a relationship for the first time and “…realizing that your issues are affecting someone else for the first time, and not entirely knowing how to change that.” Janzen hits the road this month in support of Half Moon Run on a North American tour.
Cayley Thomas – Midnight Hours
We waiting 6 years for new music from Cayley Thomas and it’s safe to say that it was worth the wait. This silky track from the Edmonton native is the first single from her upcoming record How Else Can I Tell You? While Thomas may not have a very deep back catalogue, the sound is that of someone who has been frequenting the studio for decades.
LeRiche – Connected
In this song, LeRiche asks us to “put down your phone and stay connected to what matters.” This song is light with a heavy message of feeling alone and demanding to connect with the ones closest to us. Put down your phone and listen to ‘Connected.’
