Amy Lee is laughing off one of the more unexpected moments from Evanescence’s current tour. During her interview on Faction Talk’s “Trunk Nation” with Eddie Trunk, the Evanescence frontwoman recalled getting hit in the face by a falling stage curtain after accidentally standing in the wrong spot during the band’s elaborate new live production.
Amy explained that the production features pyro, lifts, moving set pieces, and a dramatic kabuki curtain drop, requiring the band to memorize detailed staging cues. During one show, she looked toward the spotlight operator at the exact moment the curtain came down, only to realize she was standing in the wrong place.
“It slams me in the face,” Amy said. “There’s nothing you can do in that moment but laugh and just go, ‘Guys, that’s on me.’ It’s live, people.”
During the interview, also featuring Emma Anzai, Amy discussed the pressure of finishing Evanescence’s new album before launching the tour, explaining that she never rushes the band’s music and still holds every record to the high standard set by “Fallen.” She also shared that the current production is the biggest the band has ever mounted, complete with new stage effects and an ambitious live show.
