Anaheim heads to Chicago and more NHL Games of the Week
Saturday, October 18th – 3:30 pm Eastern – Channel 91
Edmonton Oilers at New Jersey Devils
Stuart Skinner has come under a lot of scrutiny over the past couple of seasons, but the netminder is capable of putting up a big game. He recently shut out the Rangers (who are having a real pickle of a time scoring a goal on home ice), sending a loud and clear message to his teammates and the rest of the league that he’s still here. The Oilers take on a Devils team tonight that will be without starting goaltender Jacob Markstrom for a couple of weeks due to a lower-body injury.
Sunday, October 19th – 7:00 pm Eastern – Channel 91
Anaheim Ducks at Chicago Blackhawks
Hey, what about those Blackhawks? They destroyed the St. Louis Blues this past week (8-3 on St. Louis ice) and have looked a lot more energized early on this season. Star forward Connor Bedard, all of 20, has elevated his game. Chicago welcomes in another Western Conference squad that’s looking to move up the standings and challenge for a playoff spot. The Anaheim Ducks have drawn energy from the likes of veteran forward Chris Kreider, who is off to a blisteringly hot start.
Monday, October 20th – 10:00 pm Eastern – Channel 91
Carolina Hurricanes at Vegas Golden Knights
Could this be the 2026 Stanley Cup Final matchup a mere eight months from now? Okay, there are a lot of games to be played before we seriously start having that conversation, but these are two of the favourites to represent their respective Conferences in the grand finale. The Canes have gotten off to an impressive start, while the Golden Knights are still looking for more consistency in their game. They’ll find it, though. Tonight will be a test for both clubs.
Tuesday, October 21st – 10:00 pm Eastern – Channel 91
Colorado Avalanche at Utah Mammoth
Is this the season the newly minted Mammoth take their funky new logo and name into the playoffs? It’ll be a tall order, but Utah can ice an impressive lineup of young players, so they’ll at least be in the mix. On the other hand, most observers have tabbed the Avalanche as one of the front-line favourites to win it all come June.
Wednesday, October 22nd – 8:30 pm Eastern – Channel 91
Montreal Canadiens at Calgary Flames
Great start for Les Canadiens, and they take their magical mystery tour out on the road to Western Canada, where there’s always a plethora of fans who show up at the rink for any of the Original Six teams. With most of their young core now locked up long-term, it’s time for Montreal to take the next step forward…and that’s the tough part. They just made the playoffs this past spring, and this time around are looking to move up the standings in the tough Atlantic Division. The host Flames just missed the post-season cut last April, and with a few impressive young players themselves, will be in the hunt again. Unfortunately, they have only won one of their first five games this time around.
Thursday, October 23rd – 7:00 pm Eastern – Chanel 167
Philadelphia Flyers at Ottawa Senators
With the loss of captain and star forward, Brady Tkachuk, for at least a month, who are the Ottawa Senators? Talk about a player who is the heart and soul of a franchise. Still, the Sens have a number of highly skilled players left who can still lace up their skates, and it’s time they step forward to lead this team during the absence of their captain. Ottawa faces a young Flyers’ squad that is not expected to make the playoffs in 2025-26.
Friday, October 24th – 8:00 pm Eastern – Channel 91
Calgary Flames at Winnipeg Jets
While the Flames are not burning all that bright out of the gate, the Jets picked up two wins in their first three games. Okay, so they most likely won’t replicate the jaw-droppingly stunning good start they enjoyed last season, but that’s alright. It’s all about the playoffs for the Winnipeg Jets, and barring a disaster (such as a slew of injuries to key players), the Jets will be there again. Where will they finish in the regular season? Most likely top three in the ultra-competitive Central Division.
