Buffalo head to Toronto and more NHL Games of the Week
Saturday, October 25th – 5:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Buffalo Sabres at Toronto Maple Leafs
It took the Sabres a few games to finally record their first win of the season, but they did it in high style with an 8-4 victory over the visiting Ottawa Senators. They then shut out the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers 3-0, and also stopped a very hot Red Wings team 4-2. Buffalo faces a Toronto team that has racked up the points, but many believe they can play better…including players on the team. The Sabres and Maple Leafs complete a home-and-away series tonight in Toronto.
Sunday, October 26th – 7:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Dallas Stars at Nashville Predators
While most observers expect the Stars to once again be in the thick of the race for top spot in the tough Central Division, what about the Predators? They were a major disappointment last season, but are off to a better start this time around. Will they have enough to dislodge one of the five Central Division teams that claimed Western Conference playoff spots this past April? Two points tonight will go a long way towards that cause.
Monday, October 27th – 7:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
St. Louis Blues at Pittsburgh Penguins
For a team that 99.99% of the hockey world insisted didn’t have a chance of making the playoffs this season, the Pittsburgh Penguins have proven to be a tough out early on. They welcome in a Blues team that just made the playoffs this past April, and then just missed moving on to the second round with a Game Seven OT loss to the Winnipeg Jets.
Tuesday, October 28th – 9:30 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 167
Utah Mammoth at Edmonton Oilers
All 32 NHL teams are in action on this last Tuesday in October, including the Mammoth in Edmonton. The Oilers are once again off to their customary underwhelming start, while Utah have been one of the new guard of teams that have been impressive out of the gate.
Wednesday, October 29th – 7:30 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Toronto Maple Leafs at Columbus Blue Jackets
After missing the playoff cut in the Eastern Conference by the slimmest of margins this past spring, many expected the Blue Jackets to take that next step this time around. So far, Columbus has played alright, and that’s good enough to keep them very close to the playoff picture in the East. Sure, it’s really early, but two points in late October mean a lot come mid-April.
Thursday, October 30th – 8:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 167
Chicago Blackhawks at Winnipeg Jets
Jonathan Toews faces his old team for the first time since his comeback with his hometown Jets. Chicago is in the next phase of their rebuild, and while it most likely won’t qualify for the postseason this time around, they have already proven to be a better team than it was last season.
Friday, October 31st – 10:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Detroit Red Wings at Anaheim Ducks
Happy Hallowe’en! Trick or treating on the West Coast tonight, as the resurgent Ducks welcome in the resurgent Red Wings. Yes, the collective playoff struggles for both franchises have indeed been scary recently. Can both teams break their lengthy playoff droughts this season? Anaheim hasn’t been to the post-season since 2018, and hasn’t won a playoff series since 2017. Detroit hasn’t had to issue playoff tickets since 2016, and hasn’t won a playoff series since 2013.
