Celebrate International Women’s Day on SiriusXM Dhamaka

Dhamaka

Raoul Juneja of SiriusXM Dhamaka here! Ahead of SiriusXM Dhamaka‘s upcoming International Women’s Day special (featuring pioneering South Asian Canadian artists Anjulie and Cartel Madras) and the launch of SiriusXM Dhamaka’s new weekly all-female music show “Dhamaka Divas”, SiriusXM Canada recommends these 5 fierce South Asian female artists you should be listening to year-round!

Simar

Born and raised in Toronto, Simar is breaking new ground as the modern “Ashanti” of the South Asian music scene – singing primarily in Punjabi, with many recent high-profile collaborations ranging from Talwiinder to Jaz Dhami to Fateh.

Veyah

Raised in New Jersey, Veyah brings a much-needed South Indian touch to the current R&B scene – her mentor Jay Sean knows a thing or two about R&B, having been the first South Asian R&B singer to hit #1 on Billboard with his classic hit single, “Down.”

Jonita Gandhi

Raised in Brampton, Ontario and mentored by her musician father Deepak Gandhi, Jonita racked up millions of views early in the YouTube era – quickly becoming one of India’s most successful Hindi female artists, with recent accolades like performing with Michael Buble at the 2025 JUNO Awards and recently collaborating on a song with Ed Sheeran.

Subhi

Based in Los Angeles, Subhi is a quadruple threat, being able to write and sing in Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi and English –

Signed to Roc Nation’s South Asian imprint Desi Trill, Subhi even collaborated with DJ Khaled & Cardi B on the recent Smurfs movie song “Higher Love”.

Gurpreet Marwah

Calgary is no stranger to South Asian Canadian R&B stars, being responsible for the likes of multi-platinum artist Raghav, and Gurpreet’s got next! Known for her melodious Hindi and Punjabi pop, Gurpreet has also been trending in India with several duet fusion collaborations.

SiriusXM Dhamaka’s International Women’s Day special featuring interviews with Anjulie and Cartel Madras airs Sunday, March 8th at 12 PM EST (re-airing 6 PM EST) on SiriusXM Dhamaka.

Celebrating South Asian female artists year-round, make sure to also tune in to “Dhamaka Divas” every Sunday at 5 PM EST on SiriusXM Dhamaka (channel 796).
