Celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day On SiriusXM

We Are The Stronghold

This weekend on SiriusXM, we’ve got some special programming to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day on CH. #165.

A few months back, we invited ShoShona Kish of Digging Roots, singer-songwriter Amanda Rheaume & activist Sarain Fox into our studios for our first edition of Spotlight on We Are The Stronghold. In solidarity with action taking place on unceded and sovereign Wet’suwet’en territory and in support of the hereditary chiefs and land defenders holding the line, it’s a call to action for Music, Ceremony & Celebration. In this weekend’s rebroadcast, you’ll hear discussion about the International Indigenous Music Summit, We Are The Stronghold events in support of #Wet’suwet’en, and music from friends that stand in solidarity.

Additionally, we’ve put together a celebration for National Indigenous Peoples Day on Sunday, June 21st, with an hour of music and discussion about what it means to be Indigenous in 2020. You’ll hear artists like Leela Gilday, David Strickland, Desiree Dorion, Julian Taylor, Kristi Lane Sinclair, Kym Gouchie, Twin Flames, Elisapie, Kris Harper from nêhiyawak and Nadia & Jason from Burnstick.

Over the last few months, we’ve invited some of our favourite Indigenous artists to record new material from the comfort of their own home while recording studios were closed. This weekend, you’ll hear Celeigh Cardinal live from her home in Edmonton with songs and stories from self-isolation.
