Ed Sheeran reveals he sang “Perfect” for Robert Kraft and Dana Blumberg’s first dance

In an interview with the Morning Mash Up on SiriusXM Hits 1 (Ch. 2), special guest Ed Sheeran revealed which song he performed at New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft’s wedding to ophthalmologist Dr. Dana Blumberg on October 14.

In addition to a duet with Sir Elton John on “Candle in the Wind,” Sheeran sang an acoustic version of his 2017 smash hit “Perfect” for the couple’s first dance.

“‘Perfect’ is the one that everyone always wants for their first dance, but I’d never done it before,” Sheeran admitted. “That was my first time doing it. So, I’m sort of looking at them dancing, and I’m like, ‘Ah, this is the first time I’ve actually done this for the first dance.’ It’s mad because you would just assume that I’ve done it lots of times. I just haven’t.”

Sheeran — who’s embarking on a world tour in February — was one of many celebrity guests at Kraft and Blumberg’s New York City wedding. In addition to musical guests, football pros like Tom Brady, Ty Law, Richard Seymour, Randy Moss, Vince Wilfork, Drew Bledsoe, and more were in attendance, plus Jon Bon Jovi and Kenny Chesney (who didn’t perform at the event but have performed at the Kraft Group-owned Gillette Stadium).

Sheeran told the Morning Mash Up, “I don’t really play a lot of weddings, because I’m always either playing a gig on a Saturday or I’m with my family on a Saturday, but [Kraft’s] was on a Friday night.”
