Every week on Everything is Broken with Kevin Drew on SiriusXM The Verge, Kevin Drew of Broken Social Scene delivers an eclectic, unpredictable, and handpicked playlist of music, while chatting with friends about the role music plays in our lives.
In this episode, Kevin sits down with his brother, Cameron Drew, to trace how music shaped their relationship, identity, and sense of community. From performing AC/DC shows in the basement as kids to discovering artists like Jeff Buckley and Tortoise, music becomes the foundation of their bond. They reflect on a time when finding music took effort, through radio, records, and word of mouth, and how that process made each discovery feel personal and lasting.
The conversation also explores how music connects to memory, safety, and emotional survival. Cameron speaks about awareness and responsibility in shared spaces, while both reflect on how music acts as a time machine, bringing back moments, people, and feelings. The episode closes on a deeply personal note, tying music to grief and healing, with a message that remains clear throughout. Seek out what brings you joy, hold onto it, and share it with others.
Plus, Kevin curates a diverse, unpredictable, and personally selected mix of music, including songs from Jeff Buckley, DJ Shadow, AC/DC and more.
Everything is Broken with Kevin Drew is heard Saturdays at 7PM EST on The Verge with an encore on Wednesdays at 7PM EST.
