Grateful Dead Channel (Ch. 23) celebrates the life and legacy of Jerry Garcia during “The Days Between,” August 1–9, marking the time between Jerry’s birth and his passing.
Twenty years have passed since Christopher Wallace, better known by his stage names The Notorious B.I.G. or Biggie Smalls, was shot and killed in Los Angeles. Although the rapper was only 24 years old, he had already become a hugely influential figure in hip-hop and his loss was, and still is, felt by millions of fans.
Ask anyone to name the five greatest rappers of all time and the Biggie is always near the top of the list. His delivery, flow, storytelling ability and charisma made him larger than life. His influence on hip-hop is undeniable: even two decades after his death, he is still lauded and beloved by the worldwide hip-hop community.
SiriusXM Backspin, Shade 45 and SiriusXM FLY will honour the icon with special programming on the 20th anniversary of his tragic death, March 9.
Hear tribute mixes and highlights from Biggie’s classic catalogue as well as reflections from those that knew him, such as Lil’ Cease, Styles P, Voletta Wallace and more.
