SiriusXM remembers George Wendt, Norm of ‘Cheers’

George Wendt

SiriusXM was sad to read of George Wendt’s passing on May 20 at the age of 76. Wendt was best known for his iconic performance as Norm Peterson on Cheers for 11 seasons.

In memory of George Wendt, take a listen to his appearance last year on Where Everybody Knows Your Name with Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson (sometimes).

Here’s the episode description:

It’s Cheers’ most loyal patron, NORM! Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson are stoked to be joined by Cheers colleague George Wendt as they reminisce about their on-set misadventures, how George got cast as Norm Peterson, their chaotic televised send-off—even the infamous time they got caught in a storm while playing hooky (mushrooms were involved). Bonus: George reveals that he once recommended Woody for an iconic role.
