After years of success as Journey’s frontman, Steve Perry seemingly stopped “believin’” in his music. The rock legend enjoyed a number of top hits with his band in the ‘80s and ‘90s – then inexplicably vanished from the public eye.
But following a nearly 20-year hiatus, Perry has returned to music, and the pop charts! The singer-songwriter discussed his new album, Traces, and explained why he’s finally back during an exclusive SiriusXM Town Hall, hosted by Katie Couric.
The devastating 2013 death of Perry’s girlfriend, Kellie Nash, inspired the singer to not only return to the limelight, but also to immortalize her memorable laugh in his music.
The finale of HBO’s hit series The Sopranos is memorable for a slew of reasons — most notably the show’s contentious ending, and, of course, its use of Journey’s classic “Don’t Stop Believin’.” More than 10 years after Tony Soprano sat down with his family for a bite to eat at a New Jersey diner, Perry clarifies how the iconic ’80s song made it into the last episode.
