Ben Rogers Releases “Wildfire” on Dallas Green’s Still Records

Vancouver’s Ben Rogers is the first artist Dallas Green signed to his new record label, Still Records. His new album Wildfire is out this weekend and he says it’s about creative renewal both personally and professionally and he feels as though he captures that metaphor through the title; with destruction by fire, there is renewal.

You’ve been seeing photos & videos taken live off the floor during studio sessions we’ve been recording in Toronto, and I’m happy to report our new show ‘Live @ SiriusXM’ launches this weekend on CH. 359.  Rogers will detail the new project, working with Dallas Green, and play us some songs from the new album.

Listen to ‘Live @ SiriusXM’ with Ben Rogers Saturday at 10 ET, Tuesday at 8 ET, and Thursday at 11 ET on CH. 359.

Happy Belated, Johnny Cash

This week, Johnny Cash would have been 87 years old, born February 26th, 1932 in Kingsland, Arkansas. I always appreciate the other Johnny Cash anniversary that falls in February with a Canadian connection; it was February 1968  when Johnny Cash proposed to June Carter (again but with success) at a hockey rink in London, Ontario packed with 7,000 fans after performing their duet ‘Jackson.’ At the time, he was just overcoming a struggle with drugs & alcohol thanks to his love for a patient June Carter.

Americana Record Store Day Releases from Oh Susanna, Jim Cuddy & More

Along with Jeff Tweedy, the Allman Brothers, Jim Cuddy, & Steve Earle,  Oh Susanna, will release 1999’s Johnstown on vinyl along with some other tasty limited-edition releases for Record Store Day coming up April 13th, 2019!

New Releases from Lawrence Maxwell, Mike Edel, and Hawksley Workman

I want to introduce you to a new artist, Prince Edward Island’s Lawrence Maxwell. He left the Navy in 2014 and says that his music began while stationed at CFB Halifax where he bought an acoustic guitar. When he returned home to PEI, the music started coming together. His new song ‘Unfinished Business’ is about rekindling a young love. Enjoy!

This episode will also feature interviews & music from Mike Edel on his new album Thresholds and Hawksley Workman on his new album Median Age Wasteland.
