Oshawa, ON Dizzy releases their EP Heavy/Twist, the follow-up to their debut JUNO Award-winning album Baby Teeth. The new EP features remixes and a few different takes on the songs ‘Twist’ and ‘Heavy’ showcasing the band’s confidence in each song to experiment with them sonically. The band took a more analog approach to create these new sounds using more live drums and piano to bring these songs to life.
Summer music festival season is in high gear and Quebec City’s 11-day music festival wraps up this weekend with Blink-182 taking the stage! I had the opportunity to check out the festival for a few days and had an amazing time. The weather was fantastic, the people were incredible, and the music was wonderful. For their upcoming ninth album the Award-winning, Grammy-nominated dynamic Calgary identical twins Tegan and Sara step into the past to reshape their future. “This is the record we never could have made as teenagers, full of songs we never could have written as adults.”
Tegan and Sara will also be releasing their first memoir called High School in September the book details their formative years and the drugs, alcohol, love, music, and friendship they explored. Tegan recalls a moment that inspired their new album.
“While working on our memoir, we discovered lost cassette tapes that had been unheard for over 20 years. They contained dozens of our first songs, written between the ages of 15 and 17…we immediately recognized the songs as an essential part of our high school story.”
Sara says “There were only minor tweaks to lyrics and structure, we tried to remain true to the original essence of each song,”
Hey, I’m Just Like You is set for a September 27th release.
