The Leafs and Canadiens face off on the 20th anniversary of NHL Network Radio
Saturday, November 22nd – 7:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Toronto Maple Leafs at Montreal Canadiens
We celebrate the 20th Anniversary of SiriusXM NHL Network Radio with a barn burner of a classic hockey game from downtown Montreal. Well, it looks good on paper. Both the Habs and the Leafs haven’t been playing their best hockey recently, and in the very tight Atlantic Division (the very tight Eastern Conference), a prolonged period of pathetic play will produce a non-playoff position quicker than you can count all the P’s in that sentence. Suffice to say, two points are at a premium tonight in Montreal.
Sunday, November 23rd – 7:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Colorado Avalanche at Chicago Blackhawks
Over the first quarter of the season, the Avalanche have been the best team in the league. Means nothing overall, as nobody hands out awards in late November. But those points are banked, and the way Colorado has been playing suggests continued success in the next quarter. The young, rebuilding Blackhawks have surprised many with their success out of the gate, and they have their eyes on a post-season berth this upcoming April, not two or three Aprils from now.
Monday, November 24th – 7:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Detroit Red Wings at New Jersey Devils
So superstar forward Jack Hughes injures his hand at a team dinner. Which means he’s lost to the Devils for the foreseeable future. Which means they’ll slip down in the Metropolitan Division standings, right? Remains to be seen. New Jersey fans were just getting accustomed to having Hughes in the lineup every night. The Devils welcome in a Detroit squad that hasn’t made the playoff cut in almost a decade and, a quarter of the way into the 2025-26 regular season, has mostly been residing up amongst the top three teams in the Atlantic Division.
Tuesday, November 25th – 9:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Dallas Stars at Edmonton Oilers
Talented two-way forward Zach Hyman is finally back with the Oilers, and in his first game in months, delivered big hits, some nice plays, and a sweet assist in a big win. And then the Oilers went out next game and were blown away by the Buffalo Sabres. So one never knows exactly what they’ll get when they watch the Oilers. They face a visiting Stars team that has been the second-best team in the Central Division so far, and they’re a team with designs on finally going all the way in the upcoming playoffs. They’ll certainly make the post-season; where Dallas finishes in the standings remains in question.
Wednesday, November 26th – 10:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Ottawa Senators at Vegas Golden Knights
15 games in the NHL on this Thanksgiving Eve, including the Senators in Vegas to tangle with the Golden Knights. Despite some less-than-stellar goaltending, Ottawa has been on the winning end of games more than they’ve picked up an L so far. They are in Vegas to face a Golden Knights team that has been picking up points, but the consensus view is that the VGK are still underperforming, not yet firing on all cylinders.
Thursday, November 27th – NO NHL GAMES SCHEDULED
The league takes a break for Thanksgiving and returns tomorrow with 15 games.
Friday, November 28th – 4:00 pm Eastern – SiriusXM 91
Los Angeles Kings at Anaheim Ducks
Put the Thanksgiving leftovers away; we’ve got almost a full menu of hockey games for you to chew on as the calendar flips over to Black Friday. The Freeway Faceoff matters again, as the young Ducks welcome in the aging but still talented Kings. And those aging but still talented Kings have surprised many people early in the season, including their own fans. Okay, so they’ve flipped the script from last season, and now they can’t win at home, but instead have morphed into road warriors (similar to the New York Rangers…stop me if you’ve heard this one before). Anaheim roared (quacked?) out to an impressive start, but like almost all of the young gun teams (Montreal, Utah, Chicago…), it has cooled off a bit recently. Still, many expect the up-and-coming Ducks to grab a Western Conference playoff invite once all the feathers have settled in mid-April. The Kings? Well, the Golden Knights and Oilers certainly haven’t been setting the not-so-wild west on fire yet, and somebody has to finish in first place.
